Providing Financial Security for You and Your Child
Planning for a loved one with special needs often means balancing today’s needs with long-term questions about care, independence, financial security, and the future. For many families, the challenge is not simply finding information, it is finding clarity, coordination, and trusted guidance along the way.
Our Special Needs Advisory was built to help families navigate that complexity with greater confidence and peace of mind. Led by Rhett Beal, our team works alongside families to create thoughtful, personalized strategies that align financial planning with lifelong care considerations.
This work is deeply personal to Rhett. When he and his wife became designated future caregivers for her adult brother with special needs, he experienced firsthand how overwhelming and fragmented the planning process can feel — even as a financial professional himself. That experience ultimately led him to pursue the Chartered Special Needs Consultant® (ChSNC®) designation and helped shape the foundation of our dedicated advisory practice.
We help families think through how private resources, public benefits, estate planning strategies, family support systems, and long-term care considerations can work together as part of a coordinated plan. While we do not draft legal documents, we regularly collaborate with attorneys, tax professionals, care providers, and other trusted specialists to help families make informed decisions with confidence.
Our advisory is also deeply connected to the special needs community. Rhett serves as a founding member and treasurer of Infinite Friends, a nonprofit serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Through that involvement and the relationships we have built within the community, we understand that families often need more than financial guidance alone. They need a trusted team, practical resources, and people who understand the realities of the journey ahead.
At Van Hulzen Financial Advisors, we believe planning is about more than finances alone. It is about helping families create greater clarity, stability, and confidence for what matters most.
