How Policy Impacts Markets and What It Means for Your Retirement Portfolio

One-Hour Workshop

Periods of volatility—driven by government policy, inflation, or global crises—can feel especially disruptive as retirement nears. This workshop helps you put current events in perspective by exploring how financial markets have responded to past crises and how investor behavior often follows predictable patterns. You’ll learn to separate noise from what truly matters for your portfolio, assess your current investment approach, and consider whether adjustments are needed. With education, context, and perspective, you’ll be equipped to stay focused on your long-term goals, even in uncertain times.

Place Planning in Retirement

As we live longer and our circumstances change, where we decide to call home matters. This 2-part seminar will discuss the concept of place planning, which involves intentionally choosing where to live at each stage of life to maximize your health, social connection, purpose in life, and financial resources.

Like most aspects of retirement planning, housing decisions are complex and highly personal, and they deserve careful consideration as part of a comprehensive retirement strategy.

Part I: One-hour Workshop

This session will explore why place planning is a key component of financial planning in retirement. We'll review common options—including aging in place, relocating to a more accessible home, or transitioning to senior housing—and introduce important considerations for each. We'll also discuss how timing plays a critical role in these decisions.

Part II: One-hour Workshop

This session covers the financial side of place planning, including cost comparisons across living options and a walkthrough of the financial considerations involved in moving to a senior living community. We'll also review CCRC contract types and share stories that bring these complex decisions to life.
