What makes him knowledgeable
Stephen was born in Singapore, and prior to attending college in Australia, he served as a lieutenant and instructor in the Officer Cadet School of the Singapore Armed Forces. He earned his Bachelor of Commerce degree in finance and accounting from University of Western Australia in 1985.
He started his career as a finance and administration manager for a Singapore transportation corporation. In 1988, he moved to New York, joining Industrial Bank of Japan as a supervisor in the financial control division. He soon recognized that individuals and businesses needed professional financial advisors. He founded Stephen Ng Financial Group in 1992.
Stephen is a Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®) and Certified Estate Planner (CEP). He has been interviewed by financial journalists at such media outlets as The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, NBC and more. He is the author of the book, “10 Financial Mistakes You Should Avoid: Safe Strategies Designed to Help Keep Your Money Safe and Growing.” He is working on a second book. He often speaks at educational events at churches and other community organizations.
He was the founder and manager of Essex & Union County N.J. Business Professionals, helping 1,700 professionals grow in their careers and make positive contributions to their communities.
Getting to know Stephen
Stephen is married and has three grown children. Stephen lives in New Jersey and Florida. He served as a deacon at Trust In God Baptist Church in New York City and was chairman of the board from 2008 to 2016. He is a current trustee of Doxa Church in New York City. He regularly attends Bell Shoals Church in Brandon, Florida. Stephen loves to travel. He frequently speaks on personal finance topics during his church’s international mission trips.
