Q: Does Financial Planning Help With Life Changes?
A: Of course, that is why we are here. Many life changes effect cash flow, debt, and have tax implications. Bring us your challenges and questions. We will help you determine all of your options, so you can be confident you're making the right decision for you.
Q: What Services Do You Offer?
A: I provide investment management, financial planning, retirement planning, insurance, college planning, and tax planning and preparation.
Q: Who Do You Usually Work With?
A: I don’t believe in minimums. Everyone needs investment advice and education. If you have any amount of money to invest, let us help you grow it, use it, and protect it.
Q: When Should I Start Planning For Retirement?
A: There is no better time than now. Success in retirement planning is easier the earlier you start. So don’t delay! You will never be younger than you are right now.
Q: Do I Need Life Insurance?
A: If you have a home, spouse, or family that relies on your income, you need life insurance.
Life insurance is designed to replace your income if you were to not come home. Your family will grieve you, of course, but life insurance should be enough to take away the worry about how they will replace your paycheck.
Q: Do You Need To Be My Financial Advisor To Prepare My Tax Return?
A: No. It is not my job to sever relationships you already have.
Q: What Will It Cost To Prepare My Tax Return?
A: I start my tax preparation at $300. That covers your Federal, State and Local tax returns. That price does go up if additional schedules or tax returns are necessary.
Q: What Are Your Fees?
A: Depending on what service we provide to you determines how we get compensated. I do offer free consultations. So, if you would like to come in, meet with me, and see if I would be a good fit for you, you are more than welcome to schedule an appointment.
If you do decide to move forward with us, our fees will be openly disclosed with the presentation of any and all options presented to you.
Q: What's The Difference Between An IRA And A Roth IRA?
A: These are both accounts to be used in retirement. The difference between them is the way they are taxed.
An IRA is funded with money that has never been taxed. It grows tax deferred. When the money is taken out in retirement, it is then taxed at your ordinary income tax rate.
A Roth IRA is funded with money that has already been taxed. It grows tax free. When the money is taken out in retirement, it is tax free. So you pay the tax upfront but the growth has never been taxed and never will.
Q: Are You A Fiduciary?
A: Yes, I am. It is my legal and ethical responsibility to make your interests my only priority.
Q: How Much Will I Need For My Child's College Education?
A: I am a firm believer in the student having an incentive to stay study-focused by having them take out at least a small loan for their education. If you have the extra income to invest for your children’s college education, there are several ways we can do that.
However, I always encourage my clients to fund their retirement first, while treating their child’s college savings as secondary.
Q: Should I Be Paying Estimates?
A: If you typically owe money when you file your tax returns, I do recommend you pay in estimates to avoid penalties.
Q: Do You Have Any Proprietary Products?
A: No. I am an independent advisor. This means I can invest your money absolutely anywhere that is legal and makes sense for your specific needs and goals.
I do not have proprietary funds, minimums, or required sales goals. I am not employed or associated with any product line so my sole focus on choosing your investments is tailored to you.
Q: Is There A Way To Send Documents To You Securely?
A: Yes! We use ShareFile. ShareFile is a way for you to send us confidential information via email. This ensures that it will be securely encrypted. We can also use it to securely encrypt sensitive information back to you.
