Tom Ciardella Sr.

Over the course of more than 50 years in the industry, Tom has remained one of Guardian’s most consistently successful General Agents. He began his career in 1967 as an agent for Metropolitan Life before stepping into management in 1969. After 10 very successful years with Metropolitan, he made a career change and joined New England Life, where he spent the next 9 years building one of their largest agencies. Then, in 1986, Tom joined Guardian® as a General Agent with his partner, Mike Savino, to build Certified Financial Services.

Tom has spent the past 35 years growing Certified Financial Services as one of Guardian’s finest agencies, with more than 90 field representatives, making CFS a perennial top 10 agency. He is currently one of only four General Agents chosen to mentor other Guardian General Agents. He has served as a member of the Field Advisory Board several times and is a member of three Guardian Advisory Committees, Policyholder Services, Disability Income, and Innovative Underwriters Committees.

Throughout his career, Tom has received the industry’s top accolades as a General Agent from both Guardian and industry organizations.

Pamela Mellor

Pamela Mellor has dedicated her professional life to educating and leading others within the financial services industry. As an indispensable asset to Certified Financial Services, Pamela is well-respected within the firm and industry as others look to her for guidance on various components of their businesses.

With over 20 years of experience, Pamela continues to grow more and more passionate about what she does every day. From personal significant life events that she has faced, one thing Pam is thankful for is the planning that was set in place to help her and her family overcome those events. She uses those experiences as her foundational ‘why’ when it comes to expressing why she does what she does for others.

As Associate General Agent, Pamela focuses much of her time ensuring that all financial professionals at CFS are receiving the proper resources to grow their businesses. She specializes in supporting the equity department and developing new initiatives to assist in wealth accumulation strategies for all CFS clients.

Pamela has also devoted a lot of her time to volunteering and fundraising opportunities for Center for Food Action, Alzheimer’s NJ and Make-A-Wish NJ. She is married to a brilliant, die hard Bostonian and together, they share a common passion for the New England Patriots and LBI.

Erika has lived her whole life playing basketball and has always been a fierce competitor in the sport. She was even awarded a full scholarship to St. Thomas Aquinas for basketball. Erika takes those leadership skills from on the court and applies them in the office as the CFS Office Director of Finance & Operations. She is a team player and a dedicated worker. As the Controller, Erika maintains the office finances, issues broker commissions, and oversees the office staff. She ensures that the company culture remains true to the company values.
Born and raised in Bergen County, Erika enjoys her free time with her husband, Sean, and their two kids, Bryce and Blake.

Don's primary focus at CFS is to help our FRs effectively grow and scale their wealth management business. Prior to joining CFS, Don worked for the business development team at Guardian and Park Avenue Securities where he assisted financial advisors across the country in growing their businesses and expanding on the product suite available to them and their clients. Before joining Guardian, Don started his career at Vanguard and spent several years at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he worked as a financial advisor and a product and practice management specialist.
Outside of work, Don is married to his beautiful wife, Gina, and they live with their sons, Declan and Torin, in Upper Saddle River, NJ.

Michelle grew up in Sands Point, NY and has settled with her family in Hillsdale, NJ. Michelle joined the financial services industry in 2003 as a Recruiter. She was responsible for recruiting, selecting, and hiring new Agents and Financial Representatives. Michelle is committed to helping grow and provide the highest quality of service to all her agents and reps. Michelle also took on a role within the Cultural Markets Department focusing on the Latino Market.
Michelle recently joined CFS as the Director of Talent Acquisition. She will be bringing on new Financial Representatives and will be proactively sourcing candidates through a variety of approaches. She will create and maintain a recruiting process that provides a world-class candidate experience. She hopes to bring a culture of enthusiasm and commitment to recruiting success.
Michelle loves connecting with new people and is very much a people person. She is enthusiastic, passionate, and driven in both her career and family life. She loves hearing from the advisors and representatives about the impact she has made on their lives, especially when it impacts their family or individual lives.

Madison “Madie” Goslin is the Marketing Director at Certified Financial Services, where she leads strategic marketing initiatives focused on brand growth, digital engagement, and data-driven storytelling.

Madie brings a strong background in higher education marketing, most recently serving at Stevens Institute of Technology. There, she led marketing efforts centered on student experience, residential life, and dining services, while also supporting initiatives across an additional 15 campuses throughout New Jersey and New York, including Montclair State University and Marist College. Her work has focused on building strong brands, creating meaningful experiences, and translating data into high-performing digital and social strategies.

Her expertise spans website and graphic design, event marketing, content strategy, and analytics, with a focus on aligning creative execution with measurable results.

Outside of work, Madie has a passion for teaching Learn to Skate as a figure skating coach, bringing patience, discipline, and instilling confidence in children through the sport.

Having been involved in the Fine Arts for so long, Andrew saw a need for greater financial literacy, education, and money consciousness within that community. With a father in the finance industry, Andrew was exposed to money mindfulness throughout his entire life. Meshing his two worlds together, he developed a curiosity of finding a way to help an industry he is most passionate about receive that same level of resources and education for their own futures.

At his core, Andrew is both a storyteller and a holder of stories. He believes that his clients should see themselves as the protagonists of their own financial stories, particularly in a world that often vies heavily for them to release that position. Andrew finds purpose in offering unique perspectives to clients that leaves them feeling more confident and with a clearer conscience than when they first walk in the door.

Andrew grew up in Middletown, Connecticut where his family still resides today. He graduated from Abilene Christian University in Texas with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting. Impressively, Andrew has directed and acted in several theatre productions and was the President of Alpha Psi Omega. When asked what attracted him to do this work, Brian states that “growing up, I had the pleasure of watching my father, now 40 years in the business, work with families and business owners. I saw first-hand the impact that his work has had on their lives, which motivates me to utilize that kind of planning to make a lasting impact on my own clients.”

By focusing on financial strategies rather than financial products, Brian is able to help clients build wealth more effectively and set themselves up for greater distribution with lower tax. George specializes in working with healthcare and IT professionals, in addition to small businesses. He relates financial services to his passion for music. The melody is the foundation of a song with added verses and a chorus to create rhythm and find clarity of the song’s meaning. Life works the same way. There should be a structured strategy to lay as the foundation for the ability of identifying all the possibilities that the future can hold from wealth accumulation to confidence and protection.

George Siderias began his career with Certified Financial Services (CFS) as a Field Representative in 2004. He later became a Managing Director at CFS. He held this position for three years, at which time he left to pursue an entrepreneurial opportunity in one of his personal passions: mixed martial arts. From 2007 to 2011 he owned, developed and managed one of the most profitable Tiger Schulmann’s franchises in the country.

In 2011, after a bout with a life-threatening illness, George returned to his career at CFS where he has turned his passion for helping students reach their martial arts goals into a passion for helping clients meet their financial goals. Focusing on personal planning, business planning and employee benefits, he works with a proprietary tool, The Living Balance Sheet®, to comprehensively educate and strategize with his clients on the most beneficial plan for their situations.

Within a year of rejoining CFS, he was selected for the Guardian Leadership Institute. George has also received the Client Builder Award, the Platinum Presidential Citation Award and achieved Leaders Club.

George’s passion for helping others extends to the community, where he co-chairs the annual American Cancer Society Northern New Jersey golf outing. He is also the chairman of the Paramus Chamber of Commerce and President of the Education Foundation of Paramus.

My connection to the medical community began early through my mother, who spent more than 25 years helping healthcare professionals grow their practices, which gave me an appreciation for the work behind building a career in medicine and the importance of protecting that income. Before entering financial services, I owned and operated a landscaping company, where I developed a strong understanding of entrepreneurship, leadership, and financial literacy. Today, I focus on helping professionals make informed financial decisions and build a strong financial foundation while building long-term relationships.

Mark L Kaufman grew up in Manhattan, NY. He attended St Lawrence University where he earned a BA in Economics with Honors. He also attended NYU Stern Business School where he earned his MBA. Mark prides himself on his 40-plus years of Debt and Equity Market Experience, which includes Forensic Accounting, Bankruptcy Law, Corporate Reorganizations, Forecasting, and Economics. Mark is an active member of the Chartered Financial Institute. Mark’s greatest joy continues to be raising his two children. In his spare time, Mark enjoys popular music and concerts, world history, current events, watching sports, working out at the gym, hiking, running, and skiing. After a leg injury a couple of years ago, it gave Mark the time to figure out what his true passion in life was. He knew he wanted to utilize his financial knowledge to help individuals rather than institutions he had been working with. As a result, Mark sees Retirement Planning as a natural for himself. Michael Whittaker has been in the financial services industry since 2016, beginning his journey as a financial services intern during his college years. He believes those years interning as a financial representative was “ideal for setting the foundation for his work, putting together comprehensive financial strategies, being a representative assisting individuals and their families.

Attention to detail, active listening skills and great empathy are words of appreciation by Michael’s clients. Michael currently holds licenses for life, health, disability, and long-term care to add to his repertoire of skills when implementing financial strategies. He is effectively supported by a team of administrative, group/individual benefits, and product specialists whose teamwork and professionalism help him build long-term relationships with his growing client base which ranges among all 50 states. Michael attended Delaware State University and Central Connecticut University to obtain his Bachelor of Psychology. While there, he was involved with Men’s Counsel (DSU), Men Enough Support Initiative (CCSU), a Certified Mentor for the State of Delaware, President of his residential hall, and Co-chairperson for the 2013 Men’s Health Initiative Conference. For the last six years, he has coached high school track and field, which in 2017 brought his team to win the CIAC Class L state championship. In Michael’s free time, he loves reading motivational and personal development books, enjoys road trips, and watching his favorite anime.

Having been born and raised in Connecticut, Paul found it fitting to give back to his community by dedicating himself to helping the people around him. Paul has been in the financial services industry for four years but has always been surrounded by this business his whole life. His father has been in the industry for more than 40 years and has become his mentor during his time at CFS which has helped him develop professionally within his practice and personally as an individual. Before his career as a financial professional, Paul had worked in the Hospitality and Hotel Management industry where he solidified his interpersonal skills and analytical skills.

Tyler Sadak grew up in Glastonbury, CT.  He is the oldest of 4 children.  He earned his B.A. in Finance and Business from Saint Anselm College.  While in college, Tyler was a part of the Men's ACHA Hockey Team and the Red Key Honor Society.  Tyler was named captain of his hockey team in his senior year of college, in which he and the other captains led the team to the best season in program history and a bid to the National Championship Tournament.  Tyler grew up playing hockey, baseball, and golf. He played hockey in college, and in his free time, he enjoys playing golf, spending time with friends and family, watching sports (hockey, golf, football, and baseball), fishing, and going to the gym.  Tyler is a Saint Anselm Alumni Group member and Hartford Young Professionals Group member.  Tyler started his career at CFS as an intern during the summer of 2023.  He chose a career in financial services with CFS because he was drawn to the team environment and the community within the organization. He liked how the focus was on a holistic financial strategy where protection is the priority to help ensure that all our clients succeed.
