Supporting International Justice Mission: An Evening At The Star In Frisco

Earlier this month, James and Brittney Marsden attended the International Justice Mission (IJM) Justice Gathering at The Star in Frisco.

While many of the events we participate in throughout the year focus on connecting with clients, supporting local businesses, or spending time within our community, this event provided an opportunity to learn more about an organization working to combat human trafficking, slavery, and violence around the world.

Hosted at the Omni Frisco Hotel, the evening brought together supporters from across Dallas-Fort Worth who share a common desire to create positive change through advocacy, generosity, and community involvement.

Learning About The Mission

International Justice Mission is one of the world's leading organizations dedicated to protecting people living in poverty from violence and exploitation.

The evening featured presentations from IJM Founder and CEO Gary Haugen, as well as members of the organization's international team working directly in regions affected by trafficking and violence.

Through personal stories, updates from the field, and conversations with supporters, attendees gained a deeper understanding of both the challenges many communities face and the work being done to create lasting change.

One of the most powerful aspects of the evening was hearing how local support can contribute to a much larger global impact.

Bringing The Dallas-Fort Worth Community Together

Hosted at The Star in Frisco, the Justice Gathering brought together business leaders, families, community advocates, and supporters from throughout North Texas.

Events like this serve as a reminder that meaningful change often begins when people come together around a shared purpose. As a Dallas-based financial planning firm, we believe the communities we serve are part of something much larger than any individual financial plan.

While the evening centered around International Justice Mission's work in Eastern Europe and other parts of the world, it also highlighted the generosity and engagement of communities here in Dallas-Fort Worth.

The room was filled with individuals committed to making a difference, whether through financial support, volunteerism, advocacy, or simply learning more about important issues affecting vulnerable populations around the world.

Charitable Giving Beyond The Numbers

As financial planners, we often talk with clients about charitable giving.

Sometimes those conversations focus on donor-advised funds, appreciated stock, qualified charitable distributions, or tax-efficient giving strategies.

But events like this serve as a reminder that charitable planning is ultimately about something much deeper. It's about values. It's about stewardship. And it's about using resources in ways that create positive impact beyond ourselves.

Many families discover that some of the most meaningful financial decisions they make involve supporting causes they care deeply about and leaving a legacy through generosity.

Looking Back

One of the things that stood out most from the evening was the reminder that meaningful impact often starts with awareness.

The stories shared throughout the event highlighted both the challenges many communities face and the difference organizations like International Justice Mission are working to make every day.

While the event itself lasted only a few hours, the mission behind it extends far beyond a single evening in Frisco. It's a reminder that charitable giving is often about much more than writing a check. It's about supporting causes, communities, and organizations that align with the values we hope to pass along to future generations.

Why Community Matters

At Apeiron Planning Partners, we believe financial planning is ultimately about helping people live intentionally.

That includes preparing for retirement, navigating taxes, and making smart investment decisions. But it also includes supporting family, strengthening communities, and contributing to causes that matter.

Events like the IJM Justice Gathering provide opportunities to learn, connect, and be reminded of the impact that generosity can have both locally and globally. To learn more about the families and professionals we serve throughout North Texas, visit our overview of who we work with.
