Rick is a graduate of the Institute of Christian Service at Bob Jones University and received a B.S. degree in Pre-Seminary from Baptist Bible College & Seminary.
For several years, Rick has served on the Foundation Board of Trustees at Clarks Summit University, providing fiduciary oversight and serving on the marketing committee to implement strategic planned giving. At home, Rick serves his community as a Dave Ramsey Counselor and a Financial Peace University instructor. He is an active member of his church, serving as a deacon and small group leader. Currently, he serves as a board member for TurnAbout Community Resources Center Ministry in Russiaville, IN, and previously served with Preserve Marriage Ministries.
His past community involvement includes serving as a board member for Indiana Right to Life (both local and state levels), co-founder of Habitat for Humanity of the Kokomo Community, and President/Founder of Central Indiana Christian Broadcasting (WIWC 91.7 FM).
In his spare time, Rick enjoys reading biographies of great American preachers and running marathons. He notably ran the 2018 Boston Marathon as a charity runner for the Massachusetts Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
Rick and his wife, Sara, have been married for over 50 years. Sara is the Chemistry Laboratory Supervisor and Lecturer at Indiana University - Kokomo (IUK). They have one son, Brian, a graduate of Wabash College, who is married to Aubrey. They have provided Rick and Sara with three grandchildren: Benjamin, John, and Anna.
