My first interaction with Equitable was a scholarship I had received in High School. I had no idea what the company did at the time. My only clue: they really valued ‘Community Achievement’, as they were willing to send me a sizable check without ever having met me. Fast forward 4 years (and a few months) later, I obtained my degree in Biochemistry and Biomedical Research at UCLA. At a career fair, I was seeking jobs in the Biopharmaceutical industry and had my eye out on a couple of my top picks. That included the giant drug manufacturing plant not 4 minutes away from where I lived in Glendale, CA. It just happened that my now partner then Recruiter, Kaising Lui was in the same career fair standing behind a branded booth, being extremely friendly with everyone approaching. Not knowing anything about the company, I simply approached to thank them for a Scholarship I received back in High School. A couple days after the career fair, a call from Kaising marked the start of something unexpected but wonderful. For about 4 months I accepted the weekend grave shift at the Pharma plant down the street and did financial training during the week. I remember taking a coffee break at exactly 7am in the middle of my shift on Fridays so I could call my early rising teacher prospects. Having the rare opportunity to compare the two paths side by side, the choice was clear. In approximately 45 months after contract, I was able to achieve DSF of the year and accepted a position as Regional Vice President. I proposed to my now wife on the first National Leaders Forum (NLF) company conference, and we purchased our house in Glendale together. In my free time, I enjoy film production, playing guitar, doing carpentry jobs on my house, or watching a good movie with the family.
