Working with Capital Financial Planners, you’ll discover we live by the principle that identifying and prioritizing the important pieces of life’s puzzle is the most effective strategy to living life optimally.
We work with passion, commitment, and tenacity of purpose as your trusted investment advisor and fiduciary.
Being part of supporting and growing our community has been close to the heart of our firm since day one.
Wealth Advisor, Principal
Barry has been with Capital Financial Planners since 2001 and a Member (owner) of the firm since 2007. He graduated magna cum laude from Willamette University.
Barry has provided expert witness testimony on financial planning matters, is a member of the Financial Planning Association, and is a past president of the Willamette Valley Estate Planning Council. In addition to his professional activities, he is a past president of the Rotary Club of Salem, is the Co-Chair for the Gerry Frank | Salem Rotary Amphitheater community project, and has served on a number of other non-profit Boards.
A seventh generation Oregonian and Salem native, Barry has been a vocalist from an early age and continues to sing with his church. In addition to singing, he enjoys umpiring (yes, umpiring) Little League baseball, woodworking, and spending time with his wife, Heather, and sons, Carter and Sawyer.
Chad joined Capital Financial Planners in 2013. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Professional with over 20 years of wealth management and banking experience. He became a member (owner) of the firm in 2016. His focus is in assisting and advising clients, their families, and their representatives in the development and implementation of sound wealth management strategies.
Prior to joining Capital Financial Planners, Chad, who also holds a Certified Trust & Financial Advisor (CTFA) designation from the American Bankers Association, was a Vice President and Trust Officer at a regional trust company located in the Pacific Northwest. There, he served on both the Trust Administrative and Trust Investment Committees. With this experience, and being of one of a small number of corporate trust professionals to leave the banking industry for private practice, he brings a unique perspective and valuable experience to Capital Financial Planners in matters of fiduciary investments, trust & estate administration, and multi-generational planning.
Chad has his B.A. from George Fox University and received his trust & wealth advisory training from the Cannon Financial Institute. In addition to serving multiple terms as President of the Rotary Club of South Salem, he also currently serves on the Board of the Willamette Valley Estate Planning Council, on the Board of Directors for Willamette Valley Hospice, and is a member of the Estate Planning Council of Portland. He has also served on the Oregon Banker’s Association Trust Committee. Finally, Chad is an associate member of the Rotary eClub of Southern Scotland which, among other things, seeks out ways to partner with communities in the African nation of Malawi.
As a third generation Oregonian, Chad is deeply rooted to his community and is committed to making it better. He and his wife, Janet (a firefighter/paramedic) and their two daughters live in Salem, with the girls going through the same schools that he did (Go South!). Beyond the office, he spends his time reading on a wide variety of subjects, weight-lifting, cooking, and outdoor recreation… especially whitewater rafting.
Operations & Client Services Manager
As our Operations and Client Services Manager, Danae oversees the administrative operations of the office and client accounts. She has been with Capital Financial Planners since 2008. Being an incredibly detail oriented individual, Danae is the go-to person when it comes to anything concerning the administrative details of client accounts. She can help to answer numerous client account questions.
Danae is an Oregon native and graduate of the Lillis School of Business at the University of Oregon. When not assisting clients or rooting on the sports teams of her alma mater, Danae enjoys playing golf, reading, and participating in team sports. Danae is involved in the Salem community, having coached several youth sports teams and serving on the Board of Directors for Family Building Blocks.
Megan is our Administrative Assistant and has been with Capital Financial Planners since 2014. She is often the first person to greet clients when they come in the door and is the cheerful voice you hear when calling the office. Megan takes a primary role in preparing paperwork to open and maintain client accounts. Having her Notary certification, she takes care of notarizing any of our in-house forms and would be happy to serve as your Notary, should the need arise.
Originally from the Seattle area, Megan now lives in South Salem and is an active volunteer with the Willamette Humane Society. In her spare time, she can often be found walking the shelter dogs, participating in outreach programs, or educating children about animal welfare.
We believe in our community and feel that it is our privilege and responsibility to give back some of our time, skills, and earnings. When you partner with Capital Financial Planners you are partnering with real-people professionals; people who get involved for the right reasons, who strive to do good work for good work’s sake, who care about the health of their neighbors, community, and environment.
